Alafia State Park

We enjoyed our visit to the Alafia State Park. We had a nice size campsite with water and electric. The added bonus was it was a pull-thru, we didn't even need to unhitch the truck! The park really caters to mountain bikers and horse folk. There is only one trail for us footpath people, but it was an enjoyable one. Lots of swampy areas and mossy trees, complete with the occasional gator. The turtle you see actually paid us a visit at campsite and I think he liked getting his picture taken. The camp is nice now, but in a few years when the trees they have planted have a chance to grow, it will be even better. We left the park on Saturday and headed back to my Uncle's marina. Yesterday was spent doing a few chores. Billy washed his truck and I did some laundry and brushed out the furballs. Today we will make the rounds and say our goodbyes. We will start our journey back to Indiana tomorrow morning. I'm really dreading the cooler temperatures and not looking forward to all the work to get the house ready to sell. I am excited to see my son and all my friends. Not sure on how often I will be able to blog on the trip back, will depend mostly on free wi-fi---no sense putting up the dish for one night stays.

Did Not Get Far!!

We moved alright. We moved about 4 spots away from our old spot in the rv park we were supposed to be leaving. Once we pulled onto the drive, we quickly realized we had a problem. Our fifth wheel was leaning badly leaning to the left. It seems we had a problem with our leaf springs. All of them were loose and one of them was twisted and flatted. Needless to stay we were stuck. We called the "repair service" who can out right away. The young man did his best to try and "fix" the problem, but in the end we needed a new spring. So, he went back to Tampa with the promise to return in the morning, with the new spring. He left us with the trailer jacked up on one side. We could not put the slides out, but we could go inside and we could reach our bed. The call came in around 10am the next day. It seems there were no springs our size available. They were going to have to manufacture one and so would not be coming till late in the day. It was about 6pm when he showed up with our spring. It took he and my husband about 3 hrs to put the new spring on and tighten down the others. At about 10pm, we were finally headed down the road to the Alafia state park. The young man who repaired the trailer for us, followed us until he reached his exit. He called about 3 times to make sure everything "felt" ok and to assure us that everything looked good from his perspective. Through this whole ordeal everyone was just great. So many fellow rv'ers came by and asked if there was anything they could do to help. It was a nice feeling to know there are so many caring folks out there willing to lend a hand. As to our fifth wheel, as soon as we are back in Indiana. The fifth wheel will be headed to Elkhart to be checked out. It is only 9 months old, so we are under warrenty. Our factory representative knows of our trouble and was also concerned as to "why" this happened.
As to the Alafia state park-it is very nice, we pulled into our pull-thru site at about midnight. We didn't even need to unhook. We leveled her up, put out the slides, and went to bed! We awoke to a great campsite and we did get the satellite dish up and pointed in the right direction! It only took us about 45 minutes and most of that was waiting for the system to run the connection test. Sometimes it is busy and you have to wait your turn. I'll tell you more about the park and share some pics in the next post. Until then.........

Moving Day

Today we move! We have been sitting in one place now for about 3mons and I know both of us are ready for a change of scenery. We aren't going far just to a state park, the Alafia, less than 100 miles away. Check in time at the park is around 3pm so we will not leave Bushnell till around 1pm. Once we get to the park we will attempt to set up our satellite. This will be our second time at this procedure, hopefully we will be successful and not kill each other in the process. A lot depends not only on our skill level, but also the number of trees in the way of the southern sky. We plan on staying at the park 3 days, so if you don't hear from me for awhile---you may assume we were unsuccessful in getting the dish online or one of us is buried in a shallow grave in the woods...............

Easter Dinner

We had a great day and dinner at Uncle Jim and Aunty Di's. The spectacular fruit and dip arrangement was done by the ever lovely, Sherry. It was every bit as good as it looked!!

Next, we have "Jeremy" the most handsome son of Jim and Diane. He also brought along the cutest little pup by the name of Roadie! We all ate way to much food, including a fabulous dessert of Carrot Cake by our charming hostess, Aunty Di.

Not to be forgotten, again the lovely Sherry showing the end of our Mamosas. Champaign and fresh squeezed OJ. mmmmmmmgoood!

Bushnell Florida

We are currently staying at Blueberry Hill RV Park. We have been here for most of the winter, Jan-March. I must say we will not be back!! They claim to be a "pet friendly" park, but we have sadly found that NOT to be the case. Since we have been here there have been new rules posted to the bulletin board. The manner and attitude in which these rules were written make me think they would rather not have any pets here at the park. Fine by me, just don't advertise you are "pet friendly" when you are barely "pet tolerant". So that is my "rant" for the day! On to more pleasant manners. We will be leaving this park, March 26th and heading to the Alafia State Park. That park is supposed to have some of the best biking trails around. Only problem is you must where a helmet to use them. We decided we would check these trails out before we purchase helmets. They maybe more than we can handle---after all we are just "old" retired folks ya know. We were also invited over to my Uncle Jim and Aunt Diane's for Easter Dinner and we are to bring our "famous" chicken and noodles!
