My Kinda Place....

Another weekend has come and gone....where oh where does the time go.  It rained most of the day here yesterday....a nice gentle, make ya wanna stay in bed all day kinda rain.  Everything smells so clean and fresh this am!
Last night I went to another dinner/dance here at the park.  The band was called "six feet up" and they were an interesting mix.  They had trombone, sax, and flute....add a little electronic "back up" section and it made for a pretty nice "big band" sound.  They played 40's, 50's, and 60's.  I went with some of our neighbors here at the park, Bill decided he would pass on this one.  Too bad cause I think he really would have enjoyed them.
The weather here has been excellent....with the exception of the rain yesterday...we have had plenty of sun and warm temps.
I think this has got to be the most "social" park I have ever stayed in.  Through out the day folks are out playing games or tennis or shooting pool or in the pool.  There is a multitude of activities to be involved in and come 3pm or so you can find folks gathered about....raising a class....and enjoying each others company......definitely my kinda place!

A Little Hummer.....

Thought you might enjoy seeing this little guy.  There are so many hummingbirds here and I just love to watch them.  This little guy is sitting on my window feeder.
I also decided to invest in a little "eye candy" for my patio.  It is called a Yard Bird and I purchased it through Amazon.  All the hooks (3) and pot holders are adjustable and the pole breaks down into 3 sections for easy storage.  It is free standing...and I added the LED lights...so pretty at night!
The weather here has been COLD and windy, but things are looking up.  Yesterday we were in the mid 70's and today is supposed to be even warmer!  Tomorrow we are having a "Happy Hour" down the street at a neighbors.  This one a little more organized as everyone is bringing a covered dish.  I'll be making my delicious scalloped pototoes!

Loving This Place

Yesterday was another fabulous day here in Yuma!  The skies were blue, the sun was bright, with just a light breeze.  We went to the farmer's market and stocked up on some fresh produce, homemade pasta, and some wonderful olive oil infused with herbs and spices....to die for!

Back at the park, we organized a little impromptu Happy Hour at our site to "break in" our new little propane fire pit.  It is a "fire dancer" and it really sets a nice atmosphere for gathering when you can't have the real thing.  I think we had about  5 couples and we had a great time!  We all made plans to go to the next dinner dance together this Friday....can't wait!

Another week..another party

Wow...this place just doesn't stop.  Last night we went to the Fish Fry here at the park...complete with live entertainment.  It was fun....the music was a little old style country with a few too many waltzes for me....but fun was had nevertheless.  One of the couples that had sat with us at the New Year's Party joined our table again and this time they brought their favorite bottle of Tequila....I tell ya, I'm getting pretty darn good at handling the shots and still being able to dance on the dance floor....unassisted!  LOL!  In fact, I even had another gal tell me how awesome my dance moves were.....ah..gee...thanks!

Another meal/dance is coming up for next week and I think this one is going to feature rock-n-roll from the 60's and 70's.....Wahoo!  I'll be sure and have my best dancing shoes on for that one!  In the meantime, we are having a big "happy hour" get together of our entire street this Thursday.  I'm really looking forward to that one too!

Ringing in the New Year ....

Wow....what a fabulous New Year's Eve party!  We sat at a table with two other couples...none of us knew each other....but within an hour we were best buds!  We danced, we laughed, we drank and we drank some more.  My bottle of Patron was very well received and made the rounds throughout the evening.
We were served dinner a little after 7pm....Prime Rib, baked potatoes, spinach, dinner roll, and scrumptious deserts....mmmmm.....good.  Then the band played and they were great...just the right mix of modern country, old time country, and a splash of rock-n-roll oldies....something for everyone.  Around 8pm, I placed a "facetime" (kinda like Skype) on my Iphone to my friends and family who were celebrating in Tampa.  We did a shot together....sang Mustang Sally Karaoke style...and wished each other well.  It was a hoot!  I love modern technology.
I managed to find my way to bed around 1:30am.  I have to say that today (Jan 1) I spent most of it in my recliner....recovering from my "fun" of the night before...and ya know what...that is OK!
