Hughesnet No More

This is all that's left of our Hughesnet system....well, maybe not all.  We made the decision it was time to call it quits with this cumbersome system.  We had it for about 3 1/2 years.  It worked ok, but it was a pain to set up and "point".  Our system was on a tripod.  At any rate, we have been using a verizon air card and love it.  Now, we know our verizon card may not work everywhere...but then neither did the hughesnet.  Actually, we like the ease of the air card so much that we may pick up an ATT air card as well.  Not only will it give us added coverage, but it will also give us another 5 gig of use.  So, Mr Hughesnet you have "fapped" us for the very last time.....LOL!

  1. I've had the AT&T aircard and now have the Verizon MiFi. I don't think AT&T comes in any better anyplace. Perhaps there is a plan for more GB/per month for an increased fee. It would be worth talking to Verizon about the possibility.

  2. Not only is that funny, it's useful information. We are soon to begin our journeys and are still trying to figure out what to do about internet.

  3. We've been using a Verizon Air Card (USB760) for a couple of years now and love it. It's never failed us no matter where we've been from Washington St. to New Mexico!

  4. The internet satellite was indeed a huge pain. Like you, ours was on a tripod and there was only 3 times in 5 years that we couldn't find a clear view of the southern sky. It was definitely the best option for us as we could use it wherever we were (US or Canada).

  5. We had a Verizon air card for a couple of years. Just recently, my husband upgraded his phone to one with a "hot spot" with a cheaper data plan both per month and on additional GB's - still with Verizon - and we cancelled the air card usage. We've been very pleased in the past, and currently, with the signal and the service.
