Feb 18, 2009

Today was laundry day. As I said in an earlier post, the laundry here at the park is painfully small and not as clean as I would prefer. One of the park folk told me about a laundry in Summerton that was large and reasonably priced. Summerton is only about 11 miles from the park---so we loaded up and headed to Summerton. Once at the laundry mat I did my usual inspection of the machines. The machines were front loaders and the detergent and softener is added into a compartment on the top of the machine. Well, I looked at several machines and it looked to me that those ‘compartments’ had never been cleaned. Some of them even had mold. That was it for me. We headed back out the door and decided to look around the town to see if there were any other laundries. We were fortunate to fine another. It was a lot smaller, but the machines were top loaders and reasonably clean. We thought we had crossed into Mexico for a moment, cause most of the signs there were in spanish. At any rate, we got the clothes clean and that is a ‘goode’ thing. By the by, I had already checked out Yuma for laundry mats. They are few and far between and the price----between $2.50 and $3.00 just to wash. OOCH! It is times like these that I wonder if we should not invest in an on board unit. I really don’t want to go there and this is the first time we have run into this problem. Most of the time the parks we stay in have very good laundries. Time will tell on that one.

Back at the fiver, I put everything away and turned my attentions to a new book I have started. It is another Stephen King book entitled ‘Cell’. The premise of this book is simple: a signal has been sent to cell phones by some unknown entity and that signal sends those that heard it into a murderous state---all those that did not have cell phones are now fighting to survive and take back the planet. I’m about half way thru and it is a pretty good read.

We decided on Beef Manhattans for dinner and then settled in to watch a little tv before turning in for the night.
